happy thursday y'all.

one of my co-workers and i travelled to south texas tuesday to work for a couple of days. our trip started with an 18 wheeler backing up down the highway into my stopped car at  5 AM as we watched in horror without having room to move out of the way. no one was any the worse for wear but the front end of my car is a bit banged up. our adventure didn't get much better from there, but it didn't really get any worse. so there you have it.

we got back this morning around 1 and i am just in total zombie mode. watching food network. waiting i guess for some food to appear in front of my hungry face since i can't seem drag my ass off the couch to scrounge anything up.

i am going to eventually go for a jog as not to totally embarrass myself when my sweetest friend theresa comes next month to join sister, the aforementioned co-worker, and me for a 5K. i'm so excited to see her and just know it will be a ton of fun. we will, i am sure, be wearing some stunning gear and will post the link to all the fabulous photos.

hey you

Had a lovely time traveling. The weather in SF was nearly perfect, we hoofed, bus, train and trolleyed all over the city, and then I had a day off to recover from it all before heading back to work on Friday. S had to stay on for work for a few days and is coming home today. Trying to scrub the house out a bit before then.

Starting planning for our next adventure - a quick weekend in Chicago in October. We have such a good time running around together and have been very fortunate the last couple of years to be able to plan some trips around work travels which means only having to purchase air fare for one. Also Priceline is fab for hotels if you're not super picky about exactly where you end up and we are increasingly adept at making use of public transit which eliminates the need for renting a car and then paying to park it. ( Most large metro areas have a pass you can purchase for unlimited trips for a certain time period - great for tourists ! ) Hit Amazon or half.com for discounted or used travel guides ( I like Fodor's and am going to try out NFT for Chi-town. ) and you are your own travel agent. Ha.

The washing machine and dishwasher are loaded and running. I should be working at getting things clean too. Turning up some Busta and going to disinfectant bomb S's bathroom.

See ya !

Good morning. Having a second cup of (decaf) coffee and futzing online before kicking it into gear to get ready for our trip tomorrow. Need to pack, hit the bank, straighten up the house a bit, etc. Already checked in for my flight and set an 'out of office' message on my work e-mail. Yes ! Plan is to be completely 'off-line' with the exception of having my phone available in case we need directions.

We've had a very mild summer here ( mild for us ) thus far but we are now into the 100+ degrees everyday no rain norm and the high tomorrow in San Francisco is forecasted to be 64 (!). Ahhhhh.

Briefly ( or not so ) here is some oversharing for you before I go :

We've been trying to conceive for coming up on a year and since having a miscarriage in April my body has been completely weird and frustrating. Today is the 37th day of my current menstrual cycle and I am making myself ( and I am sure the person who has to live with me ) insane. I have the worst acne since age 13, my lower back is killing me, and the last 5 days have felt like the day before my period. Two days ago I was off work and spent nearly the entirety of the day on the couch crying for no identifiable reason. I just felt so completely incapable of doing anything else.

I guess I should go see my OB ? When I was pregnant we had decided to use a midwife and so that is who provided care during my miscarriage. And they were so exceptional I really want to see them for any future pregnancy. I just feel awkward having to explain to the OB and ... Honestly I guess I feel bad that I don't want her to deliver my baby if I have one, but I want her to help me get pregnant. Or at least see what is happening right now that I feel like I have constant PMS and never ending cycles.

Reading that last paragraph just answered my question. I find it hard to believe a doctor I see once a year is going to be personally offended I didn't come see her for something. And if so whatev.

So look forward to upcoming 1) vacation report and 2) state of my reproductive system report(s).

Lucky, lucky you.
