There is a muscle in the inner of my right thigh that is screaming in a way that makes even the thought of a yoga class excruciating.

Instead the scones are baked and cooling (and delicious !), laundry is washing and drying in our wonder-appliances, and there is a small grey cat squeaking little cat sounds who wants to be picked up and held.

The Amelie soundtrack is pouring out of an old set of wooden speakers and for just a slice of time the world seems to be made all of cushiony softness and blunt round edges.

There's the possibility of a snail's pace walk and some gentle stretching in my afternoon and a small assortment of domestic chores that need tending to.

There is an extra scone or two, some heavenly tart marmalade, and spiced cider, hot chocolate, or loose leaf chai with a splash of milk and honey should you happen to stop by.

Late afternoon bicycle jaunt with my love.

A little dinner.

Going to turn in soon. Early.

Tomorrow morning is a yoga class want to catch. Then in the afternoon will be baking scones to go with a cute little jar of already made-by-my-lover citrus marmalade as a holiday gift for some friends we are meeting in the eve for Asian food and catching up.

Have any big New Year's plans ?

I'll be working, but I hope you are doing something much more memorable and fun.

Today has been a day for soft pink Gerbera daisies, gently spiced apple cider, and strictly non-strenuous activity.

Mail in my inbox confirming a one hour massage a week from this Wednesday.

Three more days of work before vacation.

Awash

Good morning, Christmas.

Have been up about an hour. Mixing batter and tucking it into the refrigerator to chill. Greasing the pan and preheating the oven.

Baking some little cakes for my love to find when he wakes.

After some tea and cakes and kisses we're going to unpack our brimming over full stockings here in our little apartment brimming over full with love (and cats).

Hope the day finds you and yours just as jam-packed overflowing full.

Today tagged along with my love while he made his pre-holiday retail rounds for work.

For Christmas bought myself a new hat with a low brim which makes me feel saucy and some books to read on my upcoming vacation.

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and we will be opening one present per person here after we both get done working.

If I'm not back before the big day have a merry one, ok ?

Second Day o' Winter

Saturday we went to the farmer's market and loaded up on all kinds of good chow. A new season has settled in here and all of the okra and eggplant has finally been replaced with broccoli and cauliflower and cabbage and carrots and lovely little lettuces.

Mmm.

I also bought a wee box of chocolates and they are to die for.

Rounding out the weekend yesterday was the most low-key day of work ever. I was floated to a different floor and there were no discharges, no admissions, no surprises.

It was a nice little break.

Also yesterday it really got cold here for the first time, just in time for the first day of winter.

Today am off work, but going in for an inservice, which may last an entire hour, but probably not even.

Then maybe lunch at a dumpy little Mexican restaurant and some store browsing.

Need to finish wrapping Christmas gifts and find a cat sitting service for our upcoming out of town adventure.

Will tell you all about it soon.

XOXO

So my mondo awesome place of employment called this am at 5:00 to cancel me until 11:00.

Slept another hour and a half or so. Took a shower and put on flannel pajamas.

Called at 9:30 to see if needed to go in.

Cancelled until 3:00. Call back at 1:30 to see if you need to come in.

Bleh.

Either cancel me or don't. Don't dole my day out to me in four hour increments and make me cranky.

Sheesh.

On a bright note though cracked open a package of olive oil tortas for breakfast. Snapped little bite-size pieces off to munch on between swigs of orange juice.

If you see these in the store you should drop them into your basket.

Mmm.

Now listening to big band music and finishing up the last of the laundry.

How's your Thursday ?

My bicycle crash yesterday was spectacular only in how sadly non-spectacular it was. Moving at such a snails pace up a hill that the falling over was almost just a notch above slow-motion.

An old lady in a Mercedes stopped to see if I was ok. I couldn't stop giggling. She wanted to know what I was doing out in the cold.

Told her crashing.

Heh.

Maybe go again today and try to not. Crash.

Right before I woke up this morning was having a dream that the labor and delivery floor at work was full and they were putting the overflow patients on our floor. Only our floor was my college dorm and the mom I was assigned was busy having four babies.

And I still had five other patients.

Hmm.

Sounds about right.

Speaking of my kickass job: What should I spend my last day off this week (today) doing ?

12.16.2008

Went to a yoga class this morning and then finished up some Christmas shopping.

Finally got cold here in Tejas. Thinking about bundling up and taking the bike for a spin just to prove moving south hasn't made me soft.

Ha.

70/30 odds in favor of me staying right here.

Maybe taking a nap.

Place your bets, gentleman.

12.02.2008

Hello there.

Have been busy lately doing things like eating pie, riding my new bicycle into the wind, and sleeping in a bed piled full of cat.

Sunday took off work for my lover's birthday so only have to work two days this week. Work is bearable, but barely. Where should my next job be ?

Pondering.

There is a shit ton huge pile of laundry waiting for me to put it away.

Tonight we are eating fajitas with guacamole and drinking Mexican beers.

Tomorrow is one of the aforementioned two days of work this week.

Hopefully the other people working don't suck.

It makes a huge difference.

Better get to the laundry now.

Bye.
