Sniff Sniff

Last night while tending to some plants managed to mist the front of myself with some of the fertilizer solution.

Then worked out.

Then slept.

Then went for a walk this morning in the heat and humidity.

All of that on top of the pre-departure exchange of bodily fluids.

Seems the benefit of a weekend alone is there is no one here to be offended that you smell like a combination of stale sex, dead fish, manure, and good old fashioned body odor.

Ew.

Disgusting, ain't it?

Mebbe this is why I've yet to make some new friends...
Earlier we went out for brunch and I had a sandwich instead of breakfast and now I am hungry for some breakfast.

Maybe I'll take myself on a breakfast date adventure in the morning.

It would be nice to get to sleep first.

Isn't it funny how quickly you get used to sleeping with someone and the way it can really throw a wrench into your snoozing pattern when they are gone for a night?

My significant other is off having boy fun and I'm here watching Saturday night network television (oh the horror) and just kicking ass like I do most of the time.

For dinner I had baguette slices and some local goat cheese and some salami and some fresh pineapple chunks.

I like making lists with lots of ands instead of commas.

Word.

I don't have to go back to work until Wednesday and am going to be so incredibly bored until then.

Someone please feel free to be my real life friend and we can hang.

Call me !

So right now am trying to type coherently despite having too much champagne while listening to public radio and celebrating my new found RN-dom.

Whatch you doin'?

Summary

Let's all hope together that I passed the NCLEX this morning and that I don't kill or seriously injure anyone tomorrow on my first day taking care of actual patients.

Felt a bit like baking something today, but in all honesty it's just too blasted hot to be firing up the oven.

Instead?

Peach granita, baby !

Peaches are coming into season here and the aroma they are putting off simmering on the stove is heavenly.

The recipe is very easy and will hopefully work out.

Should do just fine following up a little pasta and salad dinner later this evening.

These are the last few days coming up on the start of The Job so am off to make the most of being a loafer and a mooch.

Catch ya later.

Whew ! It is hot !

I'm into it though.

I'm also into vintage/antique browsing/shopping lately. Mostly browsing since not working for a month is kick ass except for that zero income thing.

Today went to this store that was literally stacked to the ceiling with piles of old things. Similar looking things were mostly crammed into the same general area. Nothing was really marked with a price and the shop keeper was one of those people who can never hold still and had hands blackened with newsprint. It was a total nightmare. The kind where you don't want to wake up because even though it is freaky you want to see what happens next.

Old things that used to live with other people are so neat.

(There's a joke in there somewhere, but sometimes you've got to let the easy ones go...)

Long live vintage !

Barbecue was ok. The highlight really being some tasty lima beans and also a giant yeast roll passed up for mediocre cornbread, but later retrieved and taken home in a Styrofoam container and eaten later slightly warmed and dipped in honey butter.

Today was going a little stir crazy so got out and about and tromped around the city with my significant other. Got a couple of little pots and saucers and a special drill bit to turn them into flower pots without breaking them.

How crafty of me !

Right now am listening to Twine Time and just waiting for some dinner (roast chicken and potatoes and some kind of squash I've never had before sauteed in a bit of herb butter).

If you don't have a man who can cook you up a little sumthin' sumthin' in the kitchen you should get one.

Otherwise you're totally fuckin' up.

6.06.2008

Hi-ya !

I've spent most of the day sitting in bed watching bad daytime tv and nursing a very mild hangover.

Some (and by some I mean a bottle) Kung Fu Girl Riesling may or may not have given me a bit of a kick in the ass.

We got some rain this a.m. and it has been a bit grey so it really isn't a terribly bad day to lounge around inside and recuperate.

It's also isn't a bad day to go out and take part in the grand Texas tradition of stuffing your face with lots and lots of meat. Which is why it's off to a little BBQ joint close to here for dinner when Boyfriend gets home from work.

We haven't ever been to this particular place, but I hear they have fried okra. Boyfriend will be disgusted by it I am sure, but I will be chowing it down.

Will report back with all of the gory, gorging details.

6.05.2008

Like to take a quick moment to make known my whole-hearted support of pre and post coital voiding.

Do it !

Love your vagina !

The only thing of note to have happened today...

A cheesy sports bar up the way (with pool tables !) wants to be my myspace friend.

Who told them of my proclivity for gin and overpriced pomegranate drinks?

Fess up.

Sidenote:

Dear Mrs. Clinton,

Please just call it a day.

Publicly announce that you DO NOT want the VP slot and go be a New York Senator.

Srsly.

Do it.

Ok?

Thanks!

Love you.

Mean it.

Trisha
So I have actually started reviewing for the big, bad NCLEX.

It's so much fun.

Other than that there is really very little going on.

Hope you and yours are well.

Had Mexican food for lunch and Indian food for dinner, both without eating too much.

It was a hard fought battle though. Sometimes food tastes so.good.

We also today found the place where we are going to be moving. Granted they approve my broke, not-yet-employed ass to be on the lease.

Listening to Texas swing and waiting for my lovah to get some red beans going on the stove so that can move to the bedroom and laze in bed watching bad network tv while he does his ironing for the week.

There is a big orange cat sacked out on his back in the middle of the carpet and a vase full of giant bright, cheery sunflowers on the table.

Very domestic, don't you think?
