Hi !

A week ago we were on vacation in New Orleans. Spent the first half of our trip being grumpy and worried because I felt like I had tried really hard and planned this trip and we had ended up someplace that was just so ... tired ? Run-down ?

Don't know for sure, but I distinctly felt like I had failed at finding us someplace "nice" to go. Ended up having a great time and by the end of the trip was won over by the cities unique brand of gritty, fatalistic charm.

And all the drinking before noon and strong rum-based cocktails didn't hurt.

Now we are back at home and I am completely fed up with our apartment. Our neighbors are ridiculous and obnoxious, nothing we do will get rid of the damned ants, and there are boxes of shit everywhere as we thought we would be moving by now. The house we thought we would be getting is looking like a no-go so Thursday we are back out looking at more houses.

Bleh !

But don't cry for me yet because I am going to book a Paris-bound October flight, snarf down a taco stuffed with leftover salpicon and panela cheese, and head out into the sun-soaked 60 degree day for a stroll.

Use the little bait houses; the ants take the bait back to the colony and it kills them. It takes a while but it usually gets rid of them for good after a few weeks.

i know there are 800 ant remedies out there. since we have baby/cat we used to sprinkle cinnamon around the windows or wherever they were coming in and it actually seemed to help!
borax helps, i think but i don't know about pet safety with it?? never tried it.

glad i saved some of my tears what with the 60 degree day and such.

wishing you much luck on the homebuying.

i hope the universe saved up some other super awesome house for you instead of the other one.
jealous of that taco.
and paris.
